Role purpose
As the Marketing Specialist – Sports Direct, you will play a pivotal role in executing and coordinating end-to-end marketing activities across Sports Direct stores across all markets.
This role will be responsible for translating brand guidelines into impactful local activations, coordinating agencies and partners, and delivering both in-store and digital marketing initiatives. The role requires a creative, outgoing, and commercially aware marketer who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-market retail environment.
What You Will Do
Marketing Execution & Campaign Delivery
- Execute day-to-day marketing activities at store and country level across all relevant markets.
- Apply and protect Sports Direct brand guidelines across all local campaigns, stores, and marketing materials.
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns and advertising across digital and offline channels.
- Coordinate store openings, brand activations, and external events, ensuring smooth execution and strong brand alignment.
- Manage in-store marketing, including POS, merchandising, and promotional materials.
Channels & Activation
- Deliver integrated campaigns across:
- In-store marketing.
- Digital and social channels.
- Influencer and community activations.
- Local media and partnerships.
- Coordinate with local influencers, media contacts, and partners to enhance brand visibility.
- Execute local CRM campaigns (SMS, email, loyalty pushes) where applicable.
Agency & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison with outsourced marketing agencies in local markets.
- Collaborate closely with:
- Country Retail Managers
- Store teams
- Sales, design, and supporting functions
- Align with Sports Direct brand teams and follow required brand processes to support ongoing marketing activity.
Performance, Insights & Reporting
- Track engagement, analyse performance, and report on campaign, digital, and media KPIs.
- Maintain marketing calendars and budget tracking sheets, ensuring accuracy and control.
- Gather and share customer insights, competitor activity, and store sales feedback to inform future campaigns.
- Identify gaps in current execution and proactively recommend improvements.

What You Will Bring to the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in a marketing role, with a strong focus on brand activation.
- Experience in fashion, lifestyle, or sports retail is strongly preferred.
- Proven exposure to both online and offline marketing channels.
- Creative, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic, evolving markets.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel frequently across African markets.
- Passion for sport, brand-building, and experiential marketing.
