As a Department Manager, you’re a leader who supports and inspires your team. You build an inclusive culture that encourages collaboration and entrepreneurial spirit, helping your team and H&M thrive.
You ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for customers and colleagues while understanding your store’s strengths, challenges, and competition. Through sales analysis and strategic planning, you drive performance and profitability.
Customer, Sales & Profit
- Responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your department, ensuring visual and commercial standards align with global guidelines
- Positively represent the H&M brand during customer interactions
- Identify commercial opportunities and act on your department’s strengths
- Set and follow up on sales and budget goals to maximise results
- Ensure excellent customer service and sales focus across the store
- Promote our Customer Loyalty App and Sustainability initiatives
- Manage your department cost-effectively
- Oversee routines in fitting rooms, checkouts, and admin tasks
Fashion & Trend Awareness
- Stay current with fashion trends, brands, competitors, and influencers
- Ensure the team shares product and trend knowledge with customers
Team & Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of your team
- Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning
- Share knowledge and lead by example
- Collaborate with the VM team to plan and execute the department's vision
- Promote a feedback culture and teamwork
- Manage staff planning and scheduling
- Communicate regularly to motivate and inform the team
- Ensure compliance with routines, procedures, and legal standards
- Participate in onboarding, training, and development programs
Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution
- Maintain a clean and organised store, sales floor, and stockroom
- Deliver high standards in garment care, product presentation, and stock management
- Oversee the full garment cycle from delivery to display
- Utilise tools and tech for OMNI services (Click & Collect, Smart Store, etc.)
- Maintain price integrity and strong price perception across the store
- Ensure BOH areas are tidy, safe, and up to date
- Responsible for the daily opening and closing of the store
